She didn’t know where to turn

When Leticia discovered that her home of 10 years was condemned because of faulty wiring between her mobile home and the park’s electrical grid, she panicked.  She and her three children were able to maintain a stable living situation on the income she made as a factory worker, but they just squeaked by each month.   With a 2-week eviction notice in hand, Leticia was overwhelmed by the thought that she and her children could soon become homeless.

How could she find an affordable place to live on short notice?  Did she have the right to make a complaint against the park owner for negligence?  Did the city have a right to evict her from a home she owned?  Would her children be forced to change schools in the middle of the year?  This overwhelmed mom came to a place she trusted, Catholic Charities of Idaho, for help and support to deal with this family crisis.

Through the efforts of Catholic Charities of Idaho and our community partners, Leticia and other evicted mobile home owners found personal support and long-term solutions to the housing crisis they faced.
