Carrie

Carrie contacted CCI looking for support. As young soon-to-be single mother,

she was searching for assistance in money management, parenting education,

newborn care, and post partum education. She was scared for the start of her

motherhood journey, and unsure of what to do. Carrie worked closely with

Esmeralda for several months. During this time, Esmeralda met with Carrie twice

a week offering case management services and parenting classes. Carrie

learned about community resources available to her, financial management and

budgeting skills, and how to set and maintain healthy relationships and

boundaries. Esmeralda provided Carrie with education in parenting using our

active parenting curriculum, and educated Carrie in the basics of newborn care,

postpartum risks, self care strategies, and offered Carrie essential newborn

items. Carrie was also connected to local diaper banks and other programs that

offer infant essentials in exchange for completing educational tasks. After

completing our services, Carrie feels more confident in her ability to parent her

newborn daughter, and is excited to experience the wonders of parenthood.
