Ahmad has been a participant in CCI’s resettlement program since 2022, and
participated in several different components of CCI’s case management services.
When he first made contact with CCI, he was a newcomer to the United States
and had experience unspeakable trauma in his country of origin. Through CCI’s
resettlement program, he received housing, employment, transportation, cultural
orientation, ESL courses, and counseling. Ahmad was provided with independent
living education, home economic education, and connected to community
resources to help him succeed after graduating from Catholic Charities
programs. More recently, Ahmad participated in CCI’s Afghan Subsidized
housing program. Ahmad re-enrolled into CCI’s services when he started
experiencing extreme violence and threats toward his life from extended family
members. CCI immediately assisted him in setting a safety plan and procedure to
navigate a very serious and intense situation. Ahmad worked with his case
manager to create a budget and savings plan so that he would have funds
should the need to escape arise. Ahmad has since moved to a new location,
found new employment, created a savings account, and feels much safer in his
new community. He states that he is incredibly grateful for the intense support he
as received over the years from CCI, and is confident in his ability to live
independently and pursue the ‘American dream’.
