Frequently Asked QUESTIONS:

What is counseling?
Counseling – or psychotherapy – is a professional relationship with a properly trained therapist designed to help you address personal and interpersonal functioning in different settings and life circumstances.  The counseling relationship differs from social friendship and the traditional doctor-patient relationship.  Rather than giving you advice or a specific course of treatment, counselors primarily serve as skilled listeners – helping you understand issues, discover opportunities and intention, and a way to explore and manage feelings.  This is all designed to help you live life more completely.  Remember – it is a sign of health to recognize when you face a problem and to seek help to address it!

What kind of problems do people come to counseling for?

It is common for us to encounter difficulties in life and to seek assistance and support from friends and relatives.  Counseling services are helpful when such concerns persist, if they continually interfere with family and intimate relationships, and when difficulties affect school and work performance.

Do I have to be Catholic?
No!  Our services are available to people of all backgrounds and religious identities.

Do you accept insurance payments?
Yes.  We accept many insurance payments, please contact us at 208.345.6031 to see if your insurance coverage is accepted.

Can you serve non-English speaking clients?
Yes.  We have Spanish speaking counselors on staff.  For clients whose first language is not English or Spanish, we make use of translation support and interpretation services.

What if I live outside of the Boise area? Can I still get counseling?
Absolutely! If your location or life circumstances make it difficult to get to in-office counseling, e-counseling is readily available. Perhaps you’re housebound, or ill, you travel a lot, or lack dependable transportation, or simply live some distance from a CCI office, all these make online counseling a sensible alternative. All of our counselors offer e-Counseling services.

How much do services cost?
We are committed to the provision of affordable counseling services, regardless of ability to pay.  Please call 208-345-6031 for details.

How do I get started?
Easy!  Simply call 208-345-6031 or complete a request for counseling above.

What can I expect from my first visit?
In your first session, you will be asked questions that will help us clarify your current situation and past history.  To help with this process, you will receive an information packet at or before your first appointment.  Your therapist will use the first session to better understand who you are and how we can help you.

Will our discussions remain confidential?
Yes, always!  Y
ou can expect that what you discuss in sessions will not be shared with anyone, unless you ask us to  by signing an Informed Consent Agreement (i.e. to share information with your healthcare team),  or it is required by law.  As part of your initial paperwork you will receive a confidential disclosure agreement, which outlines confidentiality commitments.
