Changes in service due to COVID-19

Picture
Doug Alles, Executive Director, CCI
Given the COVID-19 outbreak, some of Catholic Charities of Idaho’s services have changed temporarily. It is our intention to do everything we can to preserve the health and safety of the people we serve, our staff, and volunteers.

Given the current circumstances in our area, and the most recent guidelines issued from the CDC, and state and local authorities, our offices (Boise and Idaho Falls) remain open for services by appointment only; we remain closed to walk-ins.

e-Services

All services provided by CCI can be offered remotely. We have enhanced our e-service capacity, and offer services via phone and video conference. Be sure to ask us about e-service options if this would be your preference!

In-Person Services

If you wish to see us in person, please:
  1. Contact your counselor, immigration legal services advisor, or case manager in advance for approval. If you're not sure who to contact, please call 208-345-6031.
  2. Understand that our lobby areas are small and only clients with approved appointments can be admitted at this time.
  3. Arrive at least 5 minutes in advance to complete a COVID-19 questionnaire and have your temperature taken prior to admission.
  4. Understand that masks are required to enter the building and must be worn at all times when in common areas within our offices.

Please look below for changes for individual programs. CCI continues to monitor developments and directives from the CDC, Idaho's governor, the Central District of Health, and Eastern Idaho Public Health, and will update our plans as new details emerge.

Please watch our website and social media posts for updates.
If you have questions about our services, or whether or not to come to the office, please call us at (208) 345-6031 in advance of your arrival.

We are pleased we can continue providing services to our community. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding as we together respond to the COVID-19 health concern.

counseling services
Counseling services will continue on a normal schedule. Clients may be seen in person or through e-Counseling. In-person sessions must be pre-approved and scheduled through your CCI counselor.  We welcome new clients in an e-Counseling environment.
immigration legal services
Immigration services will continue on a normal schedule but are offered BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Consultations may be held electronically, or in person if scheduled and approved in advance. New immigration clients are welcome.

Immigration clients please note:
  • From the US Department of State regarding the National Visa Center closures: "In response to significant worldwide challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of State is temporarily suspending routine visa services at all U.S. Embassies and Consulates. Embassies and consulates will cancel all routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments as of March 20, 2020. As resources allow, embassies and consulates will continue to provide emergency and mission critical visa services. Our overseas missions will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time."
  • From USCIS:  "On March 18, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services temporarily suspended routine in-person services to help slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). USCIS plans to begin reopening our offices on June 4, unless the public closures are extended further. USCIS staff are continuing to perform duties that do not involve contact with the public. However, USCIS will provide emergency services for limited situations. To schedule an emergency appointment, contact the USCIS Contact Center. . . USCIS domestic field offices will send notices to applicants and petitioners with scheduled appointments and naturalization ceremonies impacted by this temporary closure. USCIS asylum offices will send interview cancellation notices and automatically reschedule asylum interviews. When the interview is rescheduled, asylum applicants will receive a new interview notice with the new time, date and location for the interview. When USCIS resumes normal operations, USCIS will automatically reschedule application support center appointments due to the office closure.
  • The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City and all U.S. consulates in Mexico will suspend until further notice, routine immigrant and non-immigrant visa services. Additional U.S. Embassies and Consulates have cancelled non-immigrant and immigrant visa appointments in light of the COVID-19 virus. Visa applicants who have a pending case at the consulate level should look up their country's U.S. Embassy to get detailed information pertaining to the country. To find embassy or consulate websites , please go to  https://www.usembassy.gov/
